Job Description

About You

The Staff Sales Engineer is a critical function within the SGNL Sales Team. In this position, you’ll work closely with our account managers and play a key role in winning deals and driving the business forward. You’ll be a trusted technical advisor to a wide range of customers primarily concentrated within the Fortune 1000. The role requires excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills, as well as previous experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) architectures. You will help prospective customers and partners understand the benefits of SGNL, explaining technical features and solving any potential roadblocks.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years sales engineering or related experience in an Identity and Access Management context
  • 8+ years of integration software development experience with at least one modern language (Python, Go, Java, C#, etc.)
  • 6+ years experience implementing cloud-based infrastructure for sales engineering purposes (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP)
  • Advanced project management, team leadership, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Deep understanding of best practices regarding Identity and Access Management and system security measures
  • Extensive knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, system security, networking, and web platforms
  • Comfort presenting and delivering technical demonstrations to executives, architects, and technical staff
  • Ability to quickly understand complex enterprise architectures, especially as relates to Identity and Access Management
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies and solutions in the cloud/IT technology space
  • Experience working with a relational DB (e.g., MySQL/Postgres)
  • Experience with Microservices/Containerization (e.g., Docker)
  • Experience with API-driven development and integration for a variety of system types

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance, scalability, reliability, and availability
  • Proven ability to mentor other sales engineers in all aspects of their architecture and engineering skill set
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Istio

Responsibilities 

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, identify key customer technical objections and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers
  • Own the technical relationship with SGNL’s customers, including proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of additional technical resources
  • Deliver demos to customers and work hands-on with customers to demonstrate SGNL’s value in customer/partner environments
  • Recommend best practices, identity architecture, infrastructure configuration required to successfully implement SGNL

Additional Information

  • Base salary range for this position: $175,000.00 – $275,000.00 per year*
  • Eligible to participate in SGNL’s Equity Incentive Plan

* Final offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by multiple factors, including years and depth of relevant experience and expertise, location, and other business considerations.
